Her voice, her look , her independence , her i dont give a shit attitude ( I have been accused of this myself that’s why I loved it so)
her writing ability ( she wrote songs that were honest and touching)
I miss Amy Winehouse and find myself going to you tube alot to see what i can of her as much as i can … ( had to get that out )
Her honesty, her sense of humour, her style.. Her EVERYTHING!
And I love how she wanted to be a mom, how she never cared about people, how she used to not sing straight. (I mean, each time she sang her songs, she sang them in different ways)
I absolutely am in 100% agreeance with all these replies about what you each loved of Amy, and for me, her humour, accent, wit, honesty, gift of voice and songwriting, for being herself. I do love the interview where she mocks her Dad when asked about “Body and Soul " song choice, cracks me up everytime, " Of course…I’m your daughter …”
visiting this thread make me miss her even more…
i love all of you guys wrote about amy. well i also love her massive hair (there’s no one in the earth who can copy her hairstyle). It’s matched with the whole persona you know. if we stumble upon a woman with a hair like amy on the street, we couldnt help but think, “there she goes the copycat”. it’s the “amy trademark”
her style is top notch too. she could mix and match clothes in her closet and still look unbelievably great & STYLISH. I love how she cut down her jeans or skirt, like the shorter the better.
GOOD! She should be missed forever!
I thought she was stylish too… maybe not in a real fashion way, but genuinely. It’s funny how she won that worst dressed award or whatever… they had to be basing it on her casual/everyday look because she was stunning otherwise. But I especially love how she wore the same stuff over and over. And she pulled off the “cheap” look very well, like the big earrings. Ah I really just miss how ordinary/normal she was with this extraordinary sense of herself and of course talent!

:55 She’s such a doll. Really love how her eyes were done that night. you can hear her laugh here too and I think she winked at him in the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1rn75AYeUo
@Keight, alright… missing teeth, the slight gap in her front teeth, her wonky bottom ones… am I missing anything? LOL oh yes! the snaggletooth. Somehow it all worked out, or I confess, love is blind! But I still think those molars were something special Anyway, I’m so glad I’m not in the limelight!
I definitely agree on her ability as a lyricist… I think I might just like her lyrics more than her voice! But without her delivery the lyrics don’t have the same impact and that’s why I miss her so
@Mrs. Jones Lol… almost died. I’m assuming without the white stuff? But you’re right… she had cute(?) nostrils. We are so very weird, but I think you topped me with that one I could never figure out what I liked about her nose but that might be it…
P.S. I’m obsessed with looking at her nostrils now. Thanks for that!
Biographer Chas Newkey-Burden said of Amy that she was a mass of contradictions and he’s absolutely right.
When I see her being interviewed, I can almost imagine her wrapped in a headscarf with a cigarette protruding from bottom lip, while leaning across one of the washing machines in the local laundrette and swapping a few saucy tales with one of her mates.
Then she gets up on stage with her “little spindly legs and mental hair” and it is truly the most magical thing I have ever seen.
I think much of her appeal is that the average person can truly identify with her and is totally swept along when seeing ‘one of their own’ transforming into such a wonderful and iconic star.
Plus, nobody can touch her as a vocalist, which obviously helps a fair bit! >
the way she sings ‘blow’ from the line ‘we wait for the blow’ in some unholy war (the faster tempo version)
how she sang ‘i cry for you 7614’ during the 2008 grammy performance (puts emphasis on ‘ya’)
how she changed the way she sang ‘this is where my buzzer goes’ during her last years - belting it instead of singing it
For me this thread should be: Things we love about Amy and not things we loved!!!
I love so many things about her… her stunned reaction when she won the grammy for record of the year, her smile, her wonderfull voice, her laugh, the way she sings everything with so much passion, the way she talks about her life, the way she touches people, the way she expresses love, the fact that she is not perfect and makes mistakes and admits them, the way she loves music, the fact that she is down to earth, her beautifull dresses, her high heels, her big hair, the eyeliner… and so many things you have already said…
Well, I started this thread as the anniversary of her death was approaching so her passing was on my mind but I was trying to add something positive to the forum. I think knowing someone when they are alive is a different experience than discovering someone after they have died… so for some, it’s what we loved about her (and always will) when she was here and for others, it’s what they have found to love about her. For example, I can’t say I loved Lucy (Lucille Ball) because I wasn’t here when she was around, but I can say I love her, as her legacy exists to me. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but I don’t think I’d change the title of it for that reason.
Amy is a Queen! My idol! I don’t even know how to express myself…all I can say is that yesterday I went to sleep after hearing and seeing Amy, maybe for an hour, on the thread about videos you are watching. I still have too see them all this weekend!!! Today I’ve been singing take the box for 3 hours now!! Can’t get it out of my head!!! And I can’t get enough of this forum!
I loved her on ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’, especially when Simon said to her he misses the old Amy and to bring her back, she strokes his face and goes ‘she dieddddd’
