AMY Winehouse's junkie husband narrowly cheated death after a drugs overdose in prison.
Blake Fielder-Civil was rushed to the jail's hospital block when he collapsed in agony after taking what he thought was heroin.
Guards found the 35-year-old writhing in pain and vomiting violently in a cell.
They instantly set off alarms and activated emergency procedures to save his life.
A probe was launched and prison officers found he had taken a drug believed to be heroin, mixed with a toxic substance.
A jail source said: "This was a close call, but he might not be so lucky next time.
"If he carries on taking so many drugs, he'll end up dead before long."
Harm
Blake and six other prisoners took the drug in G Wing of north London's grim Pentonville prison. Within moments they were all sick.
Blake, awaiting trial on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice and GBH, has been repeatedly warned to quit drugs.
Just days before the overdose he was hauled in front of prison bosses for failing THREE random drug tests. He was locked in solitary as a punishment, but was soon back in search of a fix.
The source said: "He's being very stupid. It's only because everyone reacted so quickly that this dodgy gear didn't do long-term harm."
After failing the drug tests, Blake was banned from all contact with the outside world — leaving him fearful over his relationship with Rehab singer Amy, 24.
She has been inseparable in recent days from another Blake—US photographer Blake Wood. They spent hours alone at a London hotel where Amy has been staying since leaving rehab.
Last night a Prison Service spokesman said: "A small number of prisoners were treated in health care following the consumption of an unknown substance."

I have to admit I only skimmed through the article, but ehh it's the NOTW so I don't really need to know all the details.
One day he's all clean and sober, the next day he's overdosing on heroin. A bit weird.

Amy Winehouse's hubby was in a prison hospital last night after being poisoned by contaminated drugs.
Junkie Blake Fielder-Civil collapsed just hours after the Grammy-winning star visited him behind bars with her new close pal, photographer Blake Wood.
Jail sources said 25-year-old Fielder-Civil is recovering from the effects of the illicit drugs - believed to be heroin.
But he has been kept under constant observation in the medical unit at Pentonville Prison, north London.
One prison source told The People: "Blake fell ill soon after he had downed the drugs last Monday night.
"His condition was serious enough for him to be rushed straight into the prison hospital.
"He has remained under observation since and still does not seem well enough to be allowed out of the hospital.
"His wife was made aware of the situation. She seemed worried when told about the incident.
"Questions are being asked about how this dodgy batch of drugs got into the prison in the first place."
Fielder-Civil, who is on remand in Pentonville, was taken ill after Amy's visit with Wood - dubbed Blake 2. Sources claim Amy's husband is terrified that the singer, who has spent the last few weeks in rehab, may be on the verge of dumping him.
His fears were worsened by rumours that Amy, 24, whom he married in a secret ceremony in Florida last May, has been growing close to Wood, 21. The Rehab star met the snapper through mutual pal Kelly Osbourne.
Wood has been credited with helping Amy to deliver a show-stopping Grammys performance via video-link.
Amy, whose US visa came too late for her to fly to Los Angeles for the Grammys, scooped five awards at last Sunday's ceremony.
Next day Amy took Wood, a teetotaller and vegan, into prison in an attempt to convince Fielder-Civil her pal is no danger to their marriage because he is gay.
Fielder-Civil collapsed later that night. He had been in solitary confinement since Christmas after failing a drugs test.
It is believed he had recently been allowed to mingle with other inmates again.
He faces charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
The charges relate to a pub brawl. The source said: "Before Christmas he was placed in the vulnerable prisoners' wing with the paedophiles and rapists because of fears for his safety.
"Then he failed a drugs test and prison officers found a phone on him so he was moved into solitary.
"Usually prisoners only ever spend a week there but he spent more than a month - I guess he must have liked it.
"He was taken out of solitary very recently. It was hoped he had beaten his addiction but the recent turmoil in his private life may have sent him back on to the drugs."
Record The Prison Service last night confirmed Fielder-Civil's collapse.

Amy paid tribute to her husband - who worked in the music industry before his arrest - after winning the Grammy for record of the year.

She sang: "I cry for you on the kitchen floor - 7614 my Blake."

Hmm ... I dunno sounds serious! I hope Blake is alright. I wonder why he is always so worried about Amy leaving him since she is clean. He should be happy for her and trust her ... That makes Amy just feel worse and she needs support now since she is generally having a hard time herself!
