...to a job that would change a lot of things for many people. Amy Winehouse. Remember, at this time Amy had done a very well regarded jazz album, had a loyal following amongst those, but she was very niche. The mainstream didn’t know about her. Anyway, we scouted the locations, talked about the idea and just as I was about to leave to go home and do equipment lists, the director asks, almost in passing: “Oh, Adam, have you heard the song?”. “No, I haven’t”, I said. “Jump in the car and I’ll play it for you”. Now, you have to understand I was expecting to hear some jazz tune, but instead, ‘Rehab’ comes on. Whole new sound, whole new ballgame. I knew right there and then, hearing those first bars, that this would be huge. That she would conquer the world with that tune - you could immediately tell. And I was also relieved, because it meant it didn’t matter if we made a good or a bad video - that tune would carry anything. And that’s exactly what happened. The video is nothing spectacular, but it doesn’t matter when you have music that connects in the way Rehab did. Notice the Briese-lights, BTW😜. ——- Unfortunately, on a technical level, all the record companies at this time just scanned the negative in SD. HD hadn’t really broken through yet. So all these videos from that era have really low resolution. Unless they re-scan and re-grade these from original neg (if they can even find the negs), it’s unlikely we’ll ever see HD versions of any videos made before 2008. Very very sad. ———— Last thing, notice the gangly teen staring the lens down, the first AD? He’s now a big director himself. @emilnava #amywinehouse #rehab #16mm #arri #sr3

My comment:
That may give an explanation why there aren’t HD versions of Back to Black and Rehab, maybe they haven’t found the negatives. As you see in the photo that shows the camera, the equipment is in ANALOG!!!
