I'm no expert, but the film 28 Days with Sandra Bullock - I like that philosophy.

Buy a plant. If it lasts a month or however long move onto a dog. Then if both are alive and well, you can... well the example was move on to dating, but you get my drift?

She's alive, yes, and :-S managing?? I guess?? Must say due to my lack of attendance on her for the last however long am not quite up-to-date... heard she had replaced drugs with drink, true or not, she's not totally out of the woods yet, and therefore in my eyes unable to bring a child up.

Whilst I couldn't care less with WHOM Winehouse has a baby, but the fact she's now trying for one. Working in a special needs school, I've seen too many instances of mommies with substance abuse issues having children. Whatever their reasons, their children always come out in the short end.
This is from AA, about the plants and the pets. IMHO, I think Winehouse is subscribing to handling her problems with no treatment. Cool post and great comparison, Merge.

I know they did do a fair bit of research into addiction and treatments like rehab clinics before shooting, but didn't know that had come straight from AA. To me that is a great philosophy though.
Been back on the site now a couple of days and from what I've heard and seen, yes she is finally handling her demons. But she's still so volatile, like a few instances when she was out with James Tyler, and that stuff with those kids picking on Dionne... but hey, we're all only human at the end of the day!

IMHO, Winehouse is still 'solving' her own problems. One cannot have a drug/alcohol habit as huge, and escape unscathed. She definitely needs some of that good ol' anger management. This is EXACTLY what that phrase is about, start off small, no expectations, no pressure. BTW, it's from Narcotics Anonymous, not AA. Mea culpa. B-)
