This photographer really did an amazing job of capturing Amy Winehouse. I just found out through some music magazine that was talking about Frances Bean Cobain...keep scrolling until you see the first picture of her back turned and that beehive. You'll know when it's her!

As a kid, I never understood why someone would want to photograph in B&W... but years later once I got into photography I learned B&W lost tonality... but gained mystery and emotion.

Thanks for sharing the link!

You can keep your judgments to yourself, actually. I'll remove the comment in case it may have offended someone else, regardless of your rude remark. And anyway, if you look at her pupils you'd see that she was clearly high as fuck during that photo shoot, but the photos are breathtaking, nonetheless.

I consider myself a recreational photographer... translation, I enjoy photography and people say I am good at it, but I don't do it for money.

Only a couple of these shots are decent... a lot of them are blurry and not in a way that adds creativity to them. But the ones that are sharp are good.

This one is my favourite though...

3 pictures of the shoot made it into V Magazine, 50th issue, Winter 07-08. They were taken in Benicassim, Spain July 2007. They measure 10.5 x 14 inches, suitable for framing.

I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't be so aggressive with your replies, iheartblondie. I myself thought your drug reference was inappropriate and tabloidesque in nature. I'm not into censorship, but it seems such an observation would be best kept to yourself during this rough period we are going through.

I'm also a recreational photographer (I hate the word hobbyist!) but anyway, let's not insult art, here. After all, a photograph doesn't have to be crystal clear in order to successfully convey a particular emotion/feeling to the viewer. Actually, Hedi's shots of Amy are much better than "decent"...he captures her in this woozy, indifferent state of being and that's what these photos convey.

Just being honest.

I love your fave SoulShadow, but in the magazine the lighting was adjusted to give her face much more shadow in both of these 2 pictures. I like them way better

He shoots too close with too short a lens. Makes her nose look bigger than it really is in the full-face shots. He's a one-trick pony of getting the old "heroin chic' look, because fashion likes one-dimensional models that they can feel superior to. Her pupils reveal nothing, because there's no way to tell how much light was used. Could have been super bright and printed to look like low light.

It's a basic B&W shoot. How many tricks should a basic B&W shoot have? It seems like Hedi wanted to keep her shots really simple. In regards to the lighting, it's definitely not super bright in her area. Just look at the space around her and I could explain more, but I don't feel like it.

Her pupils are unnaturally constricted...but I really don't want to even spend anymore time on her drug use. I only pointed it out because I'd never saw her in a photoshoot where it was so obvious that she was high.
