Or rather, "confirms" that the song in question was about him. There have been rumors he was the subject floating around since 2006, when the song was released on Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. The reason for the rumors: Nas's real name is Nasir Jones; like Amy he was born on September 14th; he has a daughter named Destiny; and these are some of the song's lyrics — "Side from Sammy you're my best black Jew.../Mr Destiny 9 and 14/ Nobody stands in between me and my man/ 'Cause it's Me and Mr Jones." Speaking to XXL, Nas acknowledged the lyrics referenced his birthday and his daughter's name and said “I don't really remember if Salaam, who was really close to her, introduced us, if he told me about it or not. I don't remember right now. But, I heard a lot about it before I even heard the song.” Whether he apologized for making Amy miss the Slick Rick gig, well, someone will have to ask him next time

lmfao @ never knowing she said "you're my best black jew." I always thought she said "Far from yosamite, you're my best plateu."

I am such a terrible fan lmao :(

Amy, are you happy?
She squints suspiciously at me.
"About what?"
About life.
"I'm happy about this salad."

Me and Mr. Jones is one of my fave Amy songs. I still get goosebumps every time I hear that intro. Such POWER she has in her voice! Amazing....

Yes Lainey! Me too. In fact I'm listening to it right now & had a goosebumps right away.
Amy was so freakin genius. How could she meet a guy for two seconds and write a song about him? Their duet (Love is A Losing Game) was spectacular!!
You're wondering now, what to do.. Now you know this is the end.
You're wondering how, you will pay for the way you misbehaved.

I will love you forever Amy Jade x

You can hear the sheer power in the intro like you said, you can tell when the power kicks ins, even without her trying, her voice kinda does this things, hard to explain, but its lie, ahh, there she goes, dunno if anyone knows what i mean, it goes kinda throaty, n stuff, i know what i mean, lol x

sammy davis junior is the sammy she was referencing.

the song isn't just about nas though, she's slating her then boyfriend who i assume was a black jew (george?) & was upset with him because he failed to get her tickets to the slick rick show. i find it odd that people still get confused about this song lol
