we have to believe that Nas truly did care about her, and wanted to do something that she would be proud of.
Salaam knew the caliber of artistic genius that she was, and he too would not to just want to put something out there just to throw it up against a wall and see if it sticks. he truly got the feel of this sound in the production of this, in my opinion.
although he did maybe not have as much to work with as far as Amy's tracks for this song, he captured the essence of all that embodied her special sound.
just my 2 cents. let's be thankful....that we have this little piece of her, and that two people who truly had her best interest at heart were able to come together to give us this 'classic Amy'. it certainly can't be easy doing something like this post humously with not a whole ton to work with.
I agree... I don't understand why some people are so negative about this track, we should be grateful we even heard anything. By now I'd expect everyone to lower their expectations massively and be happy even with her singing two words in a song, since we hadn't heard anything but conflicting stories about new material for like 4 years, and never actually heard any new music apart from two covers. Then we get this amazing song and some still complain. I don't get it.
He still stands in spite of what his Mars bar says.

I agree people should appreciate what's left from Amy. Even rolling stone only give this track 2/5 and called it half-baked. ??
You're wondering how, you will pay for the way you misbehaved.
I will love you forever Amy Jade x

The more I hear it, the more I love it. Like Smoke really grows on me. At first I always fast forward the Nas part (yes I did!) Cos I don't really like rap tbh. But after I tried to listen it again & again, my love for Nas started to grow. Witty lyrics.

I just read that review... So tired of the rants about cashing in, clearly not Remi or Nas are trying to make money off this. "It's not a song, exactly" lol, why are you even reviewing it under the song section then...
Btw, I was talking to my mum, who adores Amy, she told me she had heard Amy's new songs on the radio and I asked her how she liked them, and she said "I like the one where she goes whooaaa-oh-oh" Another positive review then!

But evey time i hear it gets better and better. And the rap lyrics are not bad. And yes when she sings there is something really mystical and haunting. I have to tell you i love rap but i'm this close every time to just fast forward Nas's verse to hear Amy. She is amazing.

Julianna: I too don't like rap and honestly the first time I played it, I wasn't really listening to the rap part and although i didn't fast forward through it, I did think of doing that but somehow just felt disrespectful. lol I too have developed a real big respect for Nas, and especially Salaam. I really didn't see interviews much with him before(I think I saw one); obviously knew who he was and his connect to Amy but didn't really pursue info on him but honestly, I saw the interview, have read his statements to press and really feel that he is a humble person that in no way would want to just 'cash in' on Amy's name.
Elsie: that is so cute what your mother said.
It certainly was the song that made my husband ask me, "who is that? I love her voice"
We all know that Amy would have just turned a blind eye to just one or two reviews...she didn't care...she was about what SHE wanted to do; what she felt was musically up to her standards...and I know that we all feel the same way. I know it hurts us when we read those things, but we have to remember our girl and her attitude to everything.
keep the music playin....and smile, all. It's a gift....that she gave to us...those that loved her...those that 'got' her and all that she embodied. That's the best homage we can pay to her.
and if it makes you feel better, strike an Amy to those reviews-an 'I don't give a F*' pose...u know the one...lip curled, chin down, 3rd finger up.
did I just write that?

Amy wouldn't give a damn about the negative reviews. Think it hurts her fans though as they love her and don't like her legacy being dampened.
I think it is fab and thank Nas and Salaam for doing it. Amy was always going to try different things... she wasn't a coaster. she once said something about her worst nightmare was putting out a mediocre record. Like a true lioness, that girl had pride.

I like it alot. I thought I'd get sad but I'm more so pissed she never finished this shit.
1/2 a classic as she didn't finish it but sounded it was on the way! Would sound better with a choir as opposed to a predictable rap!
