Heya, I've always wondered why Amy changed the lyrics slightly from the original and The Special's cover. I tried searching but I couldn't find any threads on this already (though I'm guessing it'll have been asked before). In the original, the lyrics are "Curtain has fallen, now you're on your own", whereas it appears that Amy sings it as "First I must swallow, now you're on your own". I always assumed I was just hearing it wrong, but at the TITP 2008 (see below, at approx 42 secs in) performance she points at her throat while singing it so I'm guessing it is "First I must swallow..." Now maybe I'm being really stupid, but what does she mean by that? All I can think of swallowing your pride etc, but I dunno. Has anyone got any ideas?

I think it's 'First Imma Swallow'. Not sure what she did this though lol.

Not sure why she did it. And I suppose we'll never really know for sure. But by the context of it, i think there are many things that it could ​mean.

Oh and I love her outfit. She looks adorable. There was a time when she was looking real "cutesy" even during her drug use... This and I think it was Madrid.. Yellow dress... She was sweet

Yeah she does seem to say "First time I swallow" or "First I must swallow".... can't figure out what she's trying to say with this song.

I always thought that she meant that the first time he misbehaved, she swallowed her pride and put up with it, but this time around she's not going to put up with it and he is now on his own

My instinct was that it was an oral sex reference - or even a double entendre - just stuck in there (ooh er, matron) for the hell of it.
