Untitled {Poem}
Before she knew it, they had formed
A circle around her
And were chanting her name.
The night went on
The music throbbed
The Floor throbbed
The guys she walked past, all throbbed
The night went on
And more and more she danced
Stopping only every hour
To go outside for some fresh air
And... a cigarette or three.
People came outside simply to see where she had gone.
To find her; how could they?
She couldn't even find herself!
She grinned.
"OK, I'm back in there,"
She blushed on purpose as she handed her
cigarette to the man next to her

She coughed and kicked the wall of the cubicle
Beside her.
Mariah Carey booming through the walls
She checked her glasses
Buried in the pile of hair on her head
She slipped them over her face as
A silent tear ran free from her bloodshot eye.
She returned to the party
Someone asked her to dance
She told him she didn't feel like dancing.
