Anyone know why she sings the word ‘rehab’ (in the song Rehab) really weird live like on the iTunes Festival CD… I think it sounds terrible and I just wanted see what you guys thought about it and if you understood why she does that.. Its like Ray-habb I hope you guys know wht I’m talking about or I’m gonna look like a right ass!
lol lol I dont think its intentional, its just her pronouncation. Are you American??
No but on the original CD and in her earlier ‘Rehab’ performences she doesn’t do it But ya I am. Was born and lived in UK though and dad has the accent so I’m used to it. Difference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ04aDkMrcc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tshDCsBKUU&mode=related&search=
haha thats her north london accent coming through..shes been doing that a lot recently..and the way she breaks up the words “so i always keep a bottle near” bugs me
I read in this artical that Rehab ment Ray Charles and Mr. Hathaway reffered to Donny Hathaway.
“I’d rather be at home with Ray” : Ray Charles “'Cause there’s nothing, there’s nothing you can teach me/That I can’t learn from Mr Hathaway” : Donny Hathaway. Rehab just means rehab. (or did I misunderstand you?) Anyway I noticed that too and was wondering why she did it. I don’t mind that she does it though.
I agree with josh, it’s because her accent, I’m Spanish, and I love studying English, I have noticed that, and also when she or Mitch pronounces “Amy” or “Blake” like: /aimi / /blaik/.
Yeah, her accent is probobly breaking through. I just thought it was weird that she only just started pronouncing it like that though.
It’s most likely because of the alcohol. She must have had a lot of drinks before/during this performance. Her older live recordings are soo much better (vocally)… but at least it’s fun to listen to this iTunes show. And her band sounds great.
Ya thats what I thought to. And yes, her older live recordings were better.
I’m glad you heard the difference too.
