Strange Amy reference just from a drummers perspective

Not strange really. Just a post from the Drummerworld forum back in 2007.

I don’t really know weather any of you are familiar with Amy’s work but the album - ‘Back To Black’ has got to be the mainstream drum track album of the year!

I would say Rush - Snakes And Arrows, but they aren’t really mainstream in the UK!

Anyhow, whats the general opinion of ‘Amy Winehouse - Back To Black’ drumming wise?

The opinions were good. Like going back in time.

my question is… who wrote weather instead of whether? :distracted:

I know all of Amy’s songs but now I need to re-listen to B2B and pay attention to the druming.

very freaky drumming, the dap-kings did a great job

Phil is secretly a weatherman.

Whatever you do, don’t tell the others.

@oscar_lars, wasn’t he playing vintage Ludwigs? And can I ask you a fanboy question because you have a good pedigree in drumming. Who are your top three?
OK, one more. Dream gig?

I know Im invading here but I love tony royster jr. god he’s crazy. n i love the greats, elvin jones, chick webb, krupa & rich, art blakey, dejohnette .. a good drummer is a gem.

He’s a monster. Toured with JayZ a while back. Vinnie Colaiuta is amazing. Has some video’s of him playing with Jeff Beck, Tal Wilkenfeld, and Jason Rebello playing at Ronnie Scott’s, very nice. There are a lot of really good drummers these days.

@Eva if you want to see your favorites www.drummerworld.com has them. You know good drumming.

Tal, his bassist is probably 20 here.

I like this guy because he has a pretty funny self-deprecating sense of humor, and he’s pretty decent too. *

Thank you man! Homer Steinweiss of dap-kings plays ludwing drumset (maybe endorser?) but i saw him use a few times Gretsch drum set.
My top 3:

-Teddy Campbell (definitely)
-John Blackwell
-Max Roach

Girl, you have good taste :friendlywink:

@oscar_lars Dude I’m disappointed. Those drummers? Hey, give me three weeks with my practice pad, they are dusted!! LOL

Amazing drummers. Power speed dynamics musicality.

You ever watch Meytal Cohen? For the scenery if nothing else? An Israeli cover girl headbanger.

Ginger Baker, drummer for Cream/Blind Faith would have to be one of 'em that would be up near the top of my list

Name two things that suck without cream

Coffee and Ginger Baker

(I know I know) LOL

Steve Gadd is one of the best. The job he did on this song is amazing. What’s more amazing is he does this stuff on the first run through. Four minutes in before he gets going.
