Suprised this hasn't already been posted:
Amy Winehouse has been tipped to record the next James Bond theme tune, after her sultry vocals caught the ears of movie producers.
The jazz singer, 23, reveals she's already had a preliminary discussion with 007 executives and is optimistic she'll follow Casino Royale artist Chris Cornell into the recording studio.
She says, "We've been in contact with the James Bond people and hopefully that'll come off in the future."
If it does, Winehouse will join a long list of famous names who have recorded songs for Bond films, including Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, Duran Duran, Dame Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner and Nancy Sinatra.

Well my guess is late 08, to coincide with the release of Bond 22.
Being a massize James Bond fan (hence the username) this would be a collision of my two biggest passions! She has a great voice and can sure as hell blast out a ballad! She could be the next Shirely Bassey and sing not one, but two, three or even more Bond themes! It's about time the Bond films returned to a strong female blasting out a number to the opening credits.
However - I'm not sure if this will pull off. As I say it's not until late 08, so for rumours to allready be circulating about it, makes it harder to believe. Before that the Killers were rumoured, but that's been shot down in flames. So many artists get rumoured for it, just like the actresses who play the Bond Girl, until there's official confirmation from the producers, you will never know for sure.
I can only hope that she does the theme for Bond 22, and if not that, than one in the future, as singing a Bond song can launch someones career to international.

i think the rumors arose from some mentioning in passing on a radio station that her voice would be good for a bond theme and someone took it, as they do, and ran with it until it had been decided she was confirmed to do it, must have been a slow news week for them to take a comment iand turn it nto an announcement
