Brighton

Seems like Amy did good in Brighton *cautious thumbs-up* - this was a posting from her official forum:

Just got back from the Bton Centre gig and she was absolutely amazing. Admittedly she was about 30/40 mins late on, but from what I have heard about Saturday night we were pretty lucky, and she did apologise for being late mid-way through the show. She put on a really really good show, held it together really well. Keep it up Amy, you were fab girl xxx

Good review. When is her tour over?

December 17th, Brixton is the last gig.

Cool, thanks…they haven’t said anything about the US tour yet, have they, not that I am pressing it at the moment…

i went last night…

she came on at 10.15, a few people around me had already gone by then, but after the first numberwhich was a bit dodgy, she really warmed into the set as it went on. Hundreds of people left after Valarie, includung myself, thinking it was the last song but she also did monkey man, and so did not finish until 11.35ish, so not a bad set; 1 1/4 hours.

She did apologise towards the end for being late, and started having banter with the crowd, rather than just saying “alright brighton”. She did some jokey booing as well, which was quite funny.

all in all, for my first amy concert i was very happy and impressed with her as a live act, just could have done without the will she/wont she turn up act!

Hi there. I was there last night too after posting yesterday asking if I should go. My son had given me tickets for my birthday and I was worried because of bad reports of previous concerts.

She was expected on stage at nine and arrived at quater past ten which made an hour and a quarter not knowing if she was going to turn up! As the previous poster said, a few people left before she came on and a few people around me were worried because they were travelling by public transport and would have to go before the end. There was a bit of slow clapping, whistelling by people waiting and waiting but that was mainly drowned out by the recorded music played to us. I was relieved (as an old foggy) to see people of all ages in the audience.

The two bands on between 7.30 and 9.00 were really good and lifted the mood.

When Amy did come on, I thought she did brilliantly. The first number was a bit dodgy but when we got on to more familier stuff, she came good and sang her heart out.

I stayed right till the end which was rewarded by hearing Rehab and Valerie which was fantastic.

I was (and still am) really annoyed by extreme lateness but as the previous poster says, she did apologise.

This is the first time I’ve been to see her and although I waited 3 months (1 hour and 15 minutes!) to see her it was truly worth it.

WHY doesn’t she just go onstage ontime, I could understand the odd occasion but this is happening at every concert and for fans that have travel committments I am not surprised at the backlash. The apology is also not well meaning in my opnion if you were genuinely sorry you would make sure you got onstage ontime in future. I am a fan but she needs to respect her fans.

In Brixton (the second date) she came on 55 minutes late, still wearing her jeans and t-shirt, and went to change her clothes during an early band introduction.
So I suppose she felt a bit bad about making us wait, but then why did she arrive at the venue almost 45 minutes after she was supposed to start singing?
Maybe she’s just one of them people that are always late. For some reason that isn’t quite clear to me, some of my friends just always fail to be on time as well.

I don’t really mind waiting a long time for Amy, it’s just the fact that you have to we wondering if she will or won’t come that makes it hard.

Sorry I don’t mean to sound like a cow but it’s cmpletely unprofessional to keep trhe audience waiting like that. A one off would be forgiveable but this is constant. What happened to doing soundchecks before the show starts?

I was also at Brighton last night, my first time seeing Amy and her band. The wait was tiresome but I cant say it was un-expected afetr all the chat on the forum. Seeing her tottering around making constant adjustments to her hair and bra was also not a surprise, though it was a bit un-nerving all the same. But when she clicked into gear with the band it was just splendid … effortless soaring vocals over a wonderful rock steady band… bluesey … jazzy … timeless. The only trouble was she could suddenly click out of gear when you least expected it. Great to hear Cherry and Love is Blind from Frank and her recent stuff and cool covers. On the whole it held together … just about. So not the disaster I really feared but boy … could she do so much more !!

you’re right, it’s terribly unprofessional as an entertainer and hugely disrespectful of people in attendance. Ten minutes of tardiness is one thing, but lengthy delays have become part of her act and therefore her apologies ring insincere. i’m a true fan, but i doubt i’ll be traveling to see her as i planned when she comes to the US. figure i’ll be taking a big enough risk just seeing her in my own city.

Yeah Kev, I feel you on that one, I was planning on see her all the east coast, but unless she gets help I wont be seeing her at all.

well, that’s kind of where I am too. think i may just stick with the dvd (she’s late onstage here as well, apologizing), the great video clips i have and scratch any idea of seeing her live for now…until she’s pulled it together!

Well it looks like she might! She’s canceled the remainder of gigs

All this “Ok she was ten hours late on stage, but we were lucky she stumbled on” Shit, blows me away. You are paying her not the other way around. I don’t know what some people do for a living, but you try going into work pissed a couple of times next week and see how you come out the end of the week.

I saw Amy twice and she was fantastic, then I got a ticket for her show in Shepards Bush empire that she cancelled and that was it for me, I had a train fair and a hotel booked and payed for.

I hope Blakey goes down for twenty years the twat. See how she likes them apples. She is a fucking waste of space now.

Oh, and while you have some time off due to your severe Exhaustion from singing one hour a night Amy, Get that fucking tooth fixed. You look so fucking ugly like that.

get the fuck off this forum, serously dont speak like that about her or blake, you obviuosly dont understnd anything about her at all, if your going to speak like that about her you should leave right now. this is a place to support amy and tlk about her amazing music. not put her down just because shes not doing well atm.

shes not a fucking waste of space, shes a young woman who obviously has problems . . .
im sorry about the gig getting cancelled when you had booked your train and hotel, but your not the only person to have done that, and you know that its never certain if Amy will turn up

well said zoe. so you dont have to call her names or call her ugly. shell get her tooth fixed if she wants to. not when you want her too. try thinking what shes going through right now, put yourself in her shoes.

:stfu:You’re a real wanker
