Well one of my fave songs is "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman.I'm obsessed with it.
That song's gorgeous & all my friends hate me playing it cause it's so old.
But I think Amy would definately suit it. She's maybe the only artist that I could have covering MY song :P

Also, "Son Of A Preacher" as someone else mentioned.

Awww i'd love to hear her do fast car... That would be amazing!LOL
I didn't like other covers of that song, I always thought Tracy Chapman did it best, but Amy would definatly pull it off me think =)

I was going to say the same. Amy would ROCK this song! She would make the whole world cry with her version.

i always thought it would cool if Amy would do a modern song from 2day and give it that retro soul style she does . If anyone can give music soul and heart , it would def be Amy :)

...somewhat like Bettye Lavette did..?

In 2008, Bettye LaVette performed The Who’s “Love Reign O’er Me,” at The Kennedy Center Honors. The rendition reportedly brought the song’s author Pete Townshend to tears, and became the starting point for an album of covers titled Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook. The album comes out May 25 via Anti. The record’s 13 songs give LaVette’s signature soul treatment to British-rock classics from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Pink Floyd to Elton John. Check out the tracklist below.
Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook tracklist:
1. The Word (John Lennon/Paul McCartney)
2. No Time To Live (James Capaldi/Stephen Winwood)
3. Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood (Bennie Benjamin/Gloria Caldwell/Sol Marcus)
4. All My Love (John Baldwin/Robert Plant)
5. Isn’t It A Pity (George Harrison)
6. Wish You Were Here (David Gilmour/Roger Waters)
7. It Don’t Come Easy (Richard Starkey)
8. Maybe I’m Amazed (Paul McCartney)
9. Salt Of The Earth (Michael Jagger/Keith Richards)
10. Nights In White Satin (David Hayward)
11. Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad (Eric Clapton/Bobby Whitlock)
12. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me (Elton John/Bernard Taupin)
13. Love Reign O’er Me (Peter Townshend)

I must have watched Bettye's performance 100 times. It absolutley gets to me everytime. Probably one of the most powerful performances to come around in a long long time. (just look at Streisand listening to it)
I posted it in the other artists thread, but here it is once more

Thanks for the info Sue, and bringing up this performance of Bettye's

if she ever comes around to jazz again, Stella By Starlight is a must for her. all the "greats" covered it, and she is in that category...

(sorry the video is dull, i just threw it together to share here)

I found it...

(this thread was hard to find, I'm still a noob lol)

This song, I think I found a song that MIGHT suite Amy Winehouse...

I just heard this now on YouTube, it's from the 1960's and could be sung by anyone...

I'm from South London from Westminster to the back streets of Thornton Heath.

Off Brigstock Road.
