Re: the 'Rehab' lyric - when Amy uses the phrase 'and the rest' it means, to me, anyway - 'you don't know the half of it' (ie, 'there's a lot more than just depression, mate') but that might be b/c I'm British, I dunno.
I love how Kev has started this whole dialogue going on re: lyrics. I had an idea about the tiny penny/ pipe lyric, but now, who knows :???:

u know what really grinds my gears? the lyrics in the b2b cover! theres so many mistakes... like on wake up alone - "regardless my heart" & im no good "meet you downstairs in the bar and hurt" ...??? prety sure thats not what she says. while we're on lyrics, do u think the subject of me & mr jones is her ex george? just cos when she says "'side from sammy you're my best black jew" - nas isn't jewish, but her ex george is black and could be jewish for all we know.

Yeah - there's a few mistakes in the lyrics book in various songs. Wake up Alone - It's 'Bothers my heart', right?
But as for 'Meet you downstairs in the bar and hurt' - that's what I always thought it was - but maybe not?
As for Me and Mr Jones - I think a LOT the lyrics are cryptic. I understand the Nas thing (Birthday), and I Think 'Mr. Destiny' means Nas being Destiny's Dad - but as for the rest... I have no idea who it refers to.
I just looked at the booklet - it says 'What KING of fuckery is this?' Did nobody proofread this thing?

i always thought it was:
meet you downstairs in the bar and heard...
...you say what did you do with him today
and i also thought it was "in spite of my heart"
as for me & mr jones i think i have it all sussed out now!
from what i gathered, she talking about an ex who caused her to miss a slick rick gig (coz he wanted her to be with him, having relationship issues "thought i didnt love you when i did) but shes saying now nas is coming, and she doesnt care what happens between her and her boyfriend becuase nas is her man and he comes first. slick rick was/is known as the 'ruler', and nas was playing at brixton academy... as for guest list, maybe the boyfriend wanted vip tickets like amy... amy & nas also share the same birthday 14th of sep, (9 &14)

maybe the boyfriend was upset with her because she wouldnt get him on to the 'guest list' for the slick rick gig, so he thought she didn't 'love' him when she did. she could be saying you're not worth being on the guest list because you kiss all those other girls, how could you lie to yourself and think we're more serious than we actually are?
later on she's just sorta saying that their relationship is just 'fuckery' coz he doesn't mean dick to her, but she'll still let him take her out (who's playing saturday); but although she thought she never really cared for him that much, he's still her best black jew, and she still wonders about what he's doing... kinda like role reversal now - she finds that she was lying to herself by not realising how much she actually liked the poor guy!
what do you think about this?

OK - now I have to go and listen, properly, Cuz I thought it was 'bothers' - but this is great! I might finally be getting the proper lyrics from this forum!
As for Me and Mr Jones -
Yes, Nas comes first (because her relationship is a bit rocky, and Nas is Amy's hero). 'You ain't worth guest list' - perhaps Amy had 2 guest passes, and this guy wasn't worth it. Yes, the 9&14 is for sure.
It's still a kind of cryptical song (imo) - but I do love 'side from Sammy, you're my best Black Jew'. I love it because I love Sammy Davis, Jr., he was the best member of the rat pack, hands down, and that's why I like that line.
