I have to say just this one thing and don't mean to take the spotlight away from the tribute to Amy (which is the only reason I will watch the awards):
I think it is important to remember that the same type of negativity the press has given Brittany in the past was also unfortunately the same smut they flung about Amy. Imagine how awful it must feel to have your body, less than flattering spread on the front of rags at the checkoutline of a grocery? they have been very unkind in the past, and threw her problems out there and aired them loudly. Her divorce, her weight problems, her car accident, her little 'craziness' stint after her divorce, her child custody problems, etc. and how would I know? not because I am a fan of Brittany but it was flung in your face unwanted at the grocery store checkout, on the news, etc. the girl has had to make big strides to overcome all that public humiliation. I have to give her credit for that. she does have a big fan base too, just as Amy does. Now, for me personally there is absolutely no comparison. It is that boxed, canned sound but that is just my opinion.
I have to think that Amy would have somehow felt a bit of empathy for the girl. Amy had a huge heart and she understood those that were troubled, probably more than we can imagine. I happen to think that she always stuck up for the underdog. I know it troubles me, and makes me feel so hurt when I read slandering things about Amy.
just my 2 cents.
....I just rise above it all and tell myself that the greatest tribute that could be paid is that Tony Bennett is returning to the MTV awards ceremony for the first time since 1993 and at the age of 80 something. 85 maybe? wow....couldn't get any better than that, folks.
:'-(She was the DiVinci of my music world!
