I enjoy Adele's singing very much, my fave being Set Fire to the Rain...She reminds me of Amy in many ways...she is a breath of fresh air for me, unpretentious, hilarious, witty, irreverent, sweet, great voice, writes songs to help her get through her bad stuff, ... I'm thrilled she won 6 Grammys...I think she deserved them...
She helped me get through the period after Amy passed on, when I couldn't listen to Amy without the tears flowing, but when I NEEDED to listen to good music that was easily accessible. But, now I've been listening to Amy again (HT), and I have not listened to Adele again.....yet...
My love for Amy is in a completely different category; it's a part of my soul. I'm thrilled Body and Soul won! And, like all her fans, I would have loved to have heard a proper tribute. It was well deserved. But, as posted above, as soon as I heard Whitney died, I knew we were not going to hear much about Amy, it being an American music show.
After about 3-4 minutes of discussing the Grammys, during a talk-radio discussion the next morning, at the end the host said that he was going to posit a question that was not exactly PC ("politically correct", for those who may not know), and the question was ...what if Whitney had died the day AFTER the Grammys, did the discussion group think that she would have been remembered in the same way...well, one of the members of the group said: "Two words: Amy Winehouse" - he may not have been correct, but it was so gratifying to hear him say that.
