I think we need to move on from this Strictly Race Row issue, I really do. The man made a grovelling apology, which Laila accepted. As for Bruce Forsyth, the guy is 82 years old, and while I'm not saying it's OK to brush it off (it's not), he is from a generation that doesn't know the meaning of the phrase 'politically correct'. That doesn't mean it's ok, it just means that he made a dumb mistake.

Have any one of us not made an insensitive remark or repeated an offensive joke, and immediatley regretted our actions? People make stupid mistakes all the time. We are human and we have faults.

I know it was wrong, and I'm not making excuses. I'm just saying - people f**k up.

The BBC addressed the issue, and I think the BBC has got more pressing questions to answer at the moment. Such as why in God's name have they allowed Nick Griffin to appear on Question Time!

it happens over here too, several older sportscasters have been yanked for making insensitive racial remarks despite their apologies. there has to be consequences, and corporations love to make examples...advertising dollars are on the line, and they just can't afford the negative publicity "cause let's face it, people are not very forgiving in this area. it's a real challange for me as a gay man in the workplace, in the world.
