**spoilers**** OK. Just got back from seeing it. We arrived 15 minutes early for the showing and they had already started it!!! I was furious!! Got up and complained (along with a few others who had just arrived). Luckily they realised the mistake and stopped it, waited until everyone had arrived before restarting it. Phew!
It was very good and very sad.
Highlights for me were;
1. Lauren, Juliette and Nick's interviews.
2. The clean mic of "we're still friends".
3. Back to Black recording footage.
4. Different version of like smoke with what sounded like more lyrics.
5. Amy reciting "you only hurt the ones you love" lyrics.
6. Amy's mum's honestly. I can't actually believe that she and Mitch didn't take Amy's bulimia seriously.
The two hours really flew in. I think they did well squeezing in all the important stuff. Can't wait for the dvd extras.

What a foolish man.
Anyone with a shred of self awareness who undergoes contemplation after any devastating event always highlights at least one thing they may have done that may not have helped the situation. This interview shows that it is not about Amy at all. It's an exercise in arse covering by Mitch.
What a shame.

Why on earth would the film need to mention the foundation? It's a very honourable cause, but it's Mitch's brainchild, not Amy's. As far as I can recall, the film is about Amy, not Mitch.
Also, I do wonder why Asif didn't include Reg in the film. Perhaps he genuinely didn't have much to say of interest, or maybe Asif felt he wasn't being totally honest. I always felt Mitch made such a big deal out of their relationship, to the point that now Reg is referred to as her fiance when they weren't even engaged. They weren't even living together.
I'm sure Reg and Amy were in a loving relationship but I wonder if by that stage Amy was too far gone in herself to get back on track. The film is about Amy, and why things ended the way they did, and perhaps Reg just didn't play a big part in the overall picture.

You hit it on the nail Crol ! This film is about Amy right up intil her death, that's why The Foundation doesn't feature in the documentary.
It is shocking to hear Mitch says he wouldn't have done anything differently with hindsight. There is always something you feel you could've done differently. He's just so concentrated on himself!
You now what? Let him and Reg make their own movie about Amy. Maybe we'll get to see new footage of her! They will try to re-write the last 3 years of her life, Mitch has been doing that from the start. His banging on about Amy being "clean (of drugs)" for the last 3 years is dangerous in my opinion, because it could be equated with her being free of addiction! Which she clearly wasn't. She was a shopping addict, a sport addict, and seemed to be becoming a plastic surgery addict. Oh, and an alcoholic of course!
I haven't seent he film yet, and maybe the last 3 years of her life as portrayed by Asif Kapadia are lop-sided. But the narrative Micth keeps giving us doesn't add up either. Healthy, happy people, don't drink themselves to death!

I think I've posted this article before, but I find it very interesting. Basically it says we shouldn't shun addicts, because given the choice to take drugs or not, those individuals who are isolated will rely on drugs, and those that evolve in a happy social environment will use them a lot less. http://www.huffingto..._b_6506936.html
Human beings are bonding animals. We need to connect and love. The wisest sentence of the twentieth century was E.M. Forster's -- "only connect." But we have created an environment and a culture that cut us off from connection, or offer only the parody of it offered by the Internet. The rise of addiction is a symptom of a deeper sickness in the way we live -- constantly directing our gaze towards the next shiny object we should buy, rather than the human beings all around us.
Based on that understanding of addiction, maybe some of those close to Amy were wrong to subject her to the tough-love approach.
But that doesn't make Micth right. Yeah, he stood by her, but him and others obviously failed to see that she was still very lonely, for whatever reason (losing Blake, the media hounding, the fear of coming up with a 3rd album to top B2B, the impossibility of having children because of her bullemia, etc...).
I refuse to buy the narrative that she was happy in the last 3 years of her life. I know I'm going on, but it is simply incompatible with the misery she was clearly trying to drown away.

Mitch is deluded and is in absolute denial. He knows that if he looks the situation right in the face, he'll have to confront the fact that he made mistakes and he wasn't the perfect, doting father he'd like everyone else to believe he was. This is why he continues to pin the blame on anyone and everyone else. He has a total aversion to the truth, and to be honest, I think he'll probably continue lying to himself for a long while yet. Coming to terms with the death of a child is difficult, and that process is made even more difficult if you know deep down that your role in their life was not always a positive one. Nobody likes to admit that they may not have done enough for their loved ones or that they might have even done things that contributed to their problems, but Mitch's attempts to whitewash Amy's story in order to paint himself as perfect is so dishonest and really does a disservice to Amy's memory. It's really a shame that he still seems to determined to be the architect of Amy's narrative, even after she has passed.

You know, Mitch goes on to explain to whomever will listen that he had Amy's consent to bring that film crew to St Lucia... but let's not forget that
a ) that was not his only attempt at filming her on her island retreat (Daphne Barak's documentray -- which he also shot down because he didn't like the picture she was painting)
and
b ) Amy was pretty vocal on twitter about how she felt (jan. 2010) https://twitter.com/amyjademermaid
WHY don't my dad WRITE a SONG when somethin bothers him instead of going on national tv? an you thought YOUR parents were embarassing
So... me thinks Mitch should take a good long look in the mirror. I know it ain't easy, but it's the only way to move on...

Sorry if these have already been posted. To be honest, there's a new article about Amy every few days in the Guardian, kinda reminds me of when she was alive and there was always a story about her in the press/tabloids.
Why we're so confused about Amy Winehouse : http://www.theguardi...t-amy-winehouse
Winhouse, Austen, Kafka and Monet : why does the work of great artists get destroyed? http://www.theguardi...works-destroyed
What if Amy Winehosue had been left alone? http://www.theguardi...been-left-alone
